Canadian Journalism Awards presented on June 9th 2009
TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ -
The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) 12th Annual Awards Gala, to be
held on June 9 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, is a unique
event that brings together journalists, media executives, academic and
business leaders to celebrate and reward excellence in Canadian
journalism.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Joe Schlesinger by
Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of
Canada. The Canadian Journalism Foundation is also pleased to welcome
Morley Safer back to his native Toronto for a CJF special tribute.
"Every year, the Canadian Journalism Foundation seeks out and recognizes
journalists whose accomplishments are exemplary," said John Macfarlane,
chair of the CJF board of directors. "This year is no exception, as we
pay our respects to two broadcast greats, Joe Schlesinger and Morley
Safer, in addition to the winners of our other awards."
